DAVID W. DUFFY

Founder of The Governance Company.

He was also the founder of Prospectus, Irelands leading independent Management Consultants.
He has extensive experience in advising organisations on corporate governance and overseas. He is Ireland’s leading author on corporate governance. He previously held a senior position in Accenture and trained with PWC in London.

He is graduate of in Business from Trinity College Dublin and holds an MBA from IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland. He is also a Chartered Accountant. David is a Council Member of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and a former board member of The Ireland Funds and a number of other commercial, sporting and voluntary bodies.

He was previously Director, CEO and CFO of Rockall Technologies Limited a global supplier of collateral software to banks around the world.
Prior to that he was Director eBanking Division at Misys International Banking Services which acquired the Credo Group where he was CEO.

Gerry is a Chartered Accountant and a graduate of Trinity College Dublin in Business Studies.
Gerry brings to The Governance Company the experience of an Irish SME selling collateral banking software to international markets and scaling a business internationally.

David Miller

David is the co-founder of Complyfile Limited, a privately held technology company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. Complyfile’s innovative cloud software helps voluntary organisations in Ireland and the UK meet their governance, risk and compliance obligations. Their solution significantly improves an organisation’s ability to comply with current legislative and regulatory standards.

He brings to The Governance Company his legal expertise, a deep domain knowledge of governance, risk and compliance obligations and of scaling technology organisations. David is a non-practising solicitor member of the Law Society of Ireland and the Law Society of England and Wales. He is also a certified Data Protection Practitioner. He has worked in Clyde & Co in the City of London, one of the world's top 20 Global Arbitration Law firms and McCann FitzGerald one of Ireland's top five law services firms.

He is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh (double first with distinction, Arabic and Persian) and the City University of London in Law.

Dermot Hanley

Dermot is INED and is on the board of a regulated international CLO investment fund (ICAV/AIF), a large Private Equity backed specialty financing/leasing company, and another, separate, international Private Equity backed manufacturing company (LBO).

He brings to The Governance Company a combination of domestic/international investment banking advisory/transactional and capital markets skills coupled with his own entrepreneurial experience.

Prior to Barclays and a brief sojourn at Claret Capital (an Irish investment firm) Dermot spent over 16 years in international investment banking and capital markets roles with some major global firms. This included, 5 years as leader of JP Morgan Canada's mid-corporate investment banking effort, preceded by 4 years with Deutsche Bank, both in New York as a member of its Private Equity (Sponsor) investment banking coverage group and in Canada, leading the consumer/business services investment banking team. Prior to joining the "client advisory side" of the business, Dermot spent over 7 years on the trading floor in a capital markets/debt structuring and distribution role with Citibank Canada.

He is a graduate of University College Dublin (BSc) and The Queens University of Belfast (MBA)

Steve Mulgavin

Steve has a successful career as a Board Member and Chair, as a public policy analyst, as a consultant, trainer, lecturer and practitioner in leadership and corporate governance in publicly funded bodies, including charities. He has extensive experience of public sector strategy and leadership, corporate governance, public accountability and audit in the UK, Ireland and overseas.

His leadership style draws on analytical and emotional intelligence to generate high levels of trust which enables change in behaviours and attitudes for improved performance. He demonstrates an ability to understand large amounts of detail with strategic awareness, to rapidly identify the core of an issue and to identify innovative solutions when required and to make decisions. He is the former Head of CIPFA Northern Ireland, Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA). Brian Rowntree

Brian Rowntree has a well-respected and proven track record in leadership in public, private and third sectors in Ireland and in Great Britain. Brian was awarded a CBE in 2004 for services to Criminal Justice in Northern Ireland and was also awarded Honorary Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Housing in 2010.

His contribution for outstanding public service in Northern Ireland was recognised in a special award by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA) in 2014. Through his various Board Chairmanships and memberships over a fifteen year period, Brian is experienced in collaborative leadership, working at Ministerial as well as Chief Executive levels. He is passionate about striving for public service excellence. Brian has a track record of innovation, leading change and making improvements in a regulatory role, as the current Chairman of the Civil Services Commissioners, as well as in public service provider organisations, for example in education, health and housing.
